Clinical Advice and Appointments
Requests for emergency admission or very urgent clinic attendance should be made to the Duty Doctor, who is bleeped via switchboard. Telephone: 0845 1555 000 Bleep 5845
The following are accepted as emergency or routine admissions:
- Adult patients with proven or suspected tropical diseases
- Adult patients with proven or suspected infectious diseases, whether or not they have travelled to the tropics.
- Adult patients for investigation of pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO),
whether or not they have travelled to the tropics.
Outpatients
Referrals may be made to named consultants or the consultant with the next available appointment.

All clinics are held in the Mortimer Market building and all physicians see general tropical medicine patients in addition to special interests. Patients may be referred to be seen within 24 hours as emergencies or patients with fevers or bloody diarrhoea may self refer as emergency attenders either during normal outpatient clinic times (9 am - 4 pm, weekdays) to HTD, Mortimer Market or out of hours (after 4 pm) or at weekends and / or bank holidays to:
