These terms and conditions apply to the use of The Hospital for Tropical Diseases
website and Online Shop (www.thehtd.org).
The Hospital for Tropical Diseases website and Online Shop is run in partnership
with Scotmas Ltd (the
Partners). Our Partners maintain the website on our behalf and are responsible for
fulfilling online orders.
Please read through these terms and conditions and if you do not agree with them
do not use this website. If you do access the website, and/or place an order,
by doing so you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions as set out below.
How to Order
All orders must be placed online through the website using the shopping basket facility
provided. Please do not e-mail your card details. No responsibility can be taken
for the security of your details if given this way.
Pricing Policy
All products on this website are priced in pounds sterling and include VAT at 17.5%
if applicable.
Method of Payment
Payment must be made by credit/debit cards through PayPal (cards accepted - VISA,
Master Card, Switch, Delta, Electron, AMEX, Maestro, Eurocard and Solo). We are
unable to accept cheques, cash, or postal orders through the website. Orders will
only be processed if you provide the cardholder's name as it is shown on the card
together with the address and postcode that appears on the card statement. No responsibility
can be taken by The Hospital for Tropical Diseases or their Partners for incorrect or
incomplete details submitted on the website.
Card fraud is illegal and perpetrators will be prosecuted.
Delivery
Goods are delivered by first class Royal Mail, and are normally dispatched within
5 working days following receipt of your order. The maximum period for delivery
is 30 days unless specifically agreed with you separately. Next working day delivery
is possible for orders placed before 2pm on weekdays (excluding bank holidays).
Next day deliveries are made using our chosen carrier and incur an additional charge
as detailed in the Delivery section of this website. If your order hasn't arrived
within 30 days please contact Customer Services using the website contact details,
or by telephoning The Hospital for Tropical Diseases Online Shop administration
on 01573 226901 quoting your order reference number.
Out of Stock
It is our aim to maintain stock of all items shown on the website. If any item you
have chosen is unavailable you will be contacted via e-mail or telephone and given the choice
to select an alternative product, or to wait until the items are available for dispatch.
If you have ordered a number of products and one or more of these is out of stock,
your delivery note will indicate a part order and goods marked ‘To Follow’ will
be forwarded automatically as soon as they are available.
Return of Goods Policy
Goods can be returned for a full refund (including delivery charge) within 7 days
after receiving the goods if they are faulty or if the wrong item has been dispatched.

Items must be unused, unopened and in their original packaging and must be accompanied
by the original delivery note. Refunds (including delivery charge) will be made
to the card which you originally used for the purchase.
Nothing in these conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Cancellation Policy
Under the United Kingdom's Distance Selling Regulations, you have the right to cancel
the contract for the purchase of any of these items within a period of 7 working
days, beginning with the day after the day on which the item is delivered. This
applies to all of our products. However, we regret that we cannot accept cancellations
of contracts for the purchase of products where the item has been unsealed.
To cancel this contract, please pack the relevant item securely, attach your delivery
slip and send it to us so that we receive it within 7 working days after the day
of the date that the item was delivered to you.
For your protection, where you are returning an item to us, we recommend that you
use a recorded-delivery service. Please note that you will be responsible for the
costs of returning the goods to us unless we delivered the item to you in error
or the item is faulty.
Please also note that you will be responsible for the costs of collection in the
event that our specialist courier service collect an item from you to return to
us.
As soon as we receive notice of your cancellation of this order, we will refund
the relevant part of the purchase price for that item, less a handling charge of
20%.
Nothing in these conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Safety Warning
Outdoor activities can be hazardous. The selection and use of suitable equipment
and travel products for particular tasks and climate conditions does require skill.
In the interests of your safety and the safety of others, you should ensure that
you are properly equipped and trained in the use of equipment and travel products.
You should also ensure that you are properly trained in the techniques you will
need to employ in pursuit of your chosen activity. We recommend that you seek and
take the advice of a person who is suitably qualified before purchasing your equipment
or travel products. Once purchased, the equipment or travel products should only
be used in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions and should likewise be

Complaints
We aim to deal with all complaints as effectively as possible. In the first instance,
your complaint may be sent to Customer Services using the website contact details.
Alternatively, you may telephone Customer Services on 01573 226901, between 9am
and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
We aim to acknowledge any complaint made through the website by email within 5 days,
and to conclude our investigations as soon as possible thereafter. Telephone complaints
will not necessarily be acknowledged by email prior to investigation. Our acknowledgement
will always include the name of the person who is handling your case. A likely timescale
for resolution will be provided upon request, but this timescale will be dependent
upon the specific nature of the complaint.

Any details which you provide to us from which we can identify you are held and
processed lawfully and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Any questions
